Climate Resolve’s April Essay: The New Club Med

Let’s imagine a vacation along the Mediterranean Sea.

From a cliff high above the shore, you can see this beautiful, vast turquoise sea. As the sun sets, you walk a path back to your pensione. The walk is made lighter thanks to the cool evening breeze.

As a Californian, it’s easy to imagine this Mediterranean idyll precisely because Los Angeles is a mediterranean city. (Mediterranean with a small m.). Our city is located along the 34th Parallel, the same latitude as Cyprus – or for that matter, the same latitude as Tangier, Morocco, Adelaide, Australia, Santiago, Chile, and Cape Town, South Africa….
