2nd MCAP Annual Convening

Western Cape, May 6 - 9, 2025

Mini-Sprint

The Mini-Sprint Project Acceleration effort was developed to support the advancement of the MCAP Work Plan and Priority Actions and specifically in response to member regions’ request for capacitation, particularly funding and human capital. To address this request, the Moore Foundation has committed funds that the Secretariat will dedicate to project acceleration.

The goal of the Mini-Sprint is to identify tangible efforts that member regions can execute over the coming months, and provide meaningful progress on by the MCAP Annual Convening in Western Cape in May 2025. Crucially, this initiative also aims to attract further funding to keep advancing these vital projects. Therefore, project teams are encouraged to develop deliverables that can be presented at COP30, showcasing the impact and potential for scale. Furthermore, preference will be given to applications that can demonstrate replication and/or scale across regions to build the base for a future work.

The MCAP Co-Chair and Working Group leads, with support from the Secretariat*, will select three projects, one within each thematic area (wildfire, drought, extreme heat), that, using the Priority Actions as guiding criteria, outline clear roles for member regions, any local partners who can receive funding, budget estimate (that can be further fleshed out with the working group chairs), and initial proposed work plan.
